Pupil Premium funding was introduced in 2011.  The Government state –‘The pupil premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers.’  Schools are also in receipt of this funding for any pupil whose parent/s is part of the regular Armed Forces.  Pupils who have been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in the last 6 years will continue to receive the funding.

Guidance has been provided by the Government to help allow schools to make decisions on how best this funding can be spent on their pupils.  It is us, as an academy, that are accountable for ensuring the funding is spent in the right way; making a difference to the progress and attainment of the pupils who are in receipt of this support.
